Five Dapps for Better Self-Care

Self-care is how you take your power back, and with the help of blockchain, now you can have the extra power to control your own data and privacy.

Today is International Women’s Day — the day we honor all the female builders, embrace ourselves, and celebrate female empowerment with a little me-time through the practice of self-care.

Self-care comes in many forms, such as eating, meditating, going for a quiet solo walk, talking to friends, or just simply knowing when to take a break from work when you need it and relax.

Here are five dapps that can help you shed stress and learn to create habits and happiness with your health in mind. And of course, they respect your privacy.

Inner Peace: Your personal gratitude journal

How to be mindful? Some people try meditation and some people choose to practice journaling — both are very private things, so your privacy has to be a priority for the platform or app you are using.

Inner Peace is a mindfulness dapp built on top of the Blockstack Network, focusing on helping you find the time to clam and unwind your mind. It guides you to rethink and recharge through journaling “in your own comfort zone”, and also reminds you to be more mindful on the daily basis.

Inner Peace comes with a mobile app so you can use it on the go. Find it on Google Play and then start writing down your thoughts whenever and wherever you feel comfortable with.

Actifit: Motivate your everyday activity with rewards

When it comes to exercise, every movement counts. But sometimes it’s hard to commit to a 15-minutes workout twice a week or you just don’t feel like going out for a run — well, you’re not alone.

Now Actifit, a Steem-based dapp, has a new way to motivate you and help you push past your limits. It incentivizes healthy living by rewarding your everyday activity with crypto rewards.

Here’s how Actifit works: Go get the Actifit dapp from the App Store or Google Play and create an account, then start moving: Going for a jog, walking your dog, practicing yoga, or even doing some house chores. Once you reach your goal, simply click “Post to Steem” to receive rewards. If you’re wearing an activity tracker like Fitbit, you can easily sync your activity data to Actifit.

So, hope you’re ready to challenge yourself and live your best life with more rewards!

People are still debating whether to count calories or not, but for me, without a doubt, it does help me to be more mindful about what I’m eating and “did I just eat too much food that beyond my daily routine?”. Calorie is the one that makes counting calories simple, easy, and secure — unlike other calorie counters, all the data on Calorie are encrypted and stored on the decentralized blockchain, so no one else has access except you.

To get started, you will need a Blockstack ID to sign in to Calorie, and you can log your food, personal info, and etc. It also provides analytical charts and you can quickly review your weight and intake calories by time.

Nomie: Track your mood and everything else

We all love life tracking apps. Almost everyone has an app or two on her / his phone that count calorie intake, analyze spending habits, sleeping routines, and more. While keeping tracking of daily activities and habits can certainly make your life healthier, don’t forget the importance of monitoring our own emotions.

Nomie is a decentralized mood and life tracker that helps you understand your own emotions and track your sleep, meditation, sex… literally everything else. On your Nomie dashboard, the data charts that give you a better idea of how you can control them. You can record your thoughts and create a custom tracker (like hug my cat”) too.

The best part? Nomie is free and secure. It gives you the choice of how would you like to store your data — it can be either encrypted and stored in the cloud that powered by Blockstack, or stored on your device. Either way, no one can access your private data journal but you!

POW!: Your private period tracker

Period trackers help you to get to know your own body and circle. But do you ever wonder who is collecting the data besides you and why are you keeping getting spam emails from random health ads? These data are extremely sensitive and POW! is here to make sure you can take charge of your menstrual cycle securely.

POW! is a menstruation-tracking dapp that respects your privacy — you have complete control of your data. With a clean and modern interface, you can create different menstruation tags and use them to align your cycles and make predictions for future circles.
